The aim of the teaching project is to provide assistance to local schools who are in need of volunteer support.

Volunteers are given an opportunity to help local staff teach various subjects like English, Mathematics, Science and creative activities.

Volunteers also participate in physical education during the children’s sport day once a week.

DLZ provides volunteers to teach in community schools to equip children with the basic skills they require to become productive members of their community.

Teacher volunteer duties may include:

  • Lesson planning in the morning for daily classes (usually from 8am to 12:30pm half day and full day from 8am to 15:30pm)
  • Teaching basics such as reading and writing; English is especially important
  • Helping older/more advanced students maths, science etc
  • Marking  books
  • Playing with children during break times
